I have almost the same setup, my motor is just different... 3.42 at 3000 rpm is 70 mph...

He friend Can I tell you what cam I used in My 355 78 Malibu wagon with 3:73s and a very sweet 700R4 with Fairbanks everything ... I used a Comp Cams Hyd roller and waved goodbye to anything GM has Hot or otherwise and please spend the cash and use the Rebuildable New Comps Magnum "Ultra" rockers they will be the very last rockers you ever buy at last ...Oh and I have since installed 3:90s to go with the 275s 15s DR I use as well .. Good Stang hunting ..

12.6 is pretty fast for 284 rwhp. Isnt it? I have a 98 z28 camaro with 327 rwhp and can only pull a 13.4 with good tires and taking off good. Is the car have weight reduction to it? Or am i just missing something. Thanks and the looks nice!

how tall of rear tire do you have and what are your 60ft times with the 3.42 gears? also what size tourqe converter do you have? thanks!

@068Firehawk That's a honest 284 at the wheels. Beautiful car!

nice malibu what kind of mufflers u got cant even hear them
-
Nice, what is your rpm red line?

@mcelhenyma a old automatic uses about 20% of your power, newer ones are about slightly over 15%.you add in a higher stall converter that eats up a little more and bigger rear tires, etc
im confused as to how u lost 101 hp from crank to the wheels... you should only be loosing like 40-45 maybe 50...maybe, i dont know how many rpms u ran it up to but id bet it had more in it... just curious i am not trying to be an ass or anything so please dont take it that way.

I am guessing that the horsepower that GM lists for this crate engine is slightly optimistic. Dyno runs were run up to the rev-limiter kicked in. Was set at 5800. GM lists the max rpm for this engine at 5800.............just to put it into perspective....my stock LT1 Firehawk(wich was rated at 315HP) also put down 284hp at the rear wheels.

It's actually my Buddy's car.
The gears are great for cruising, but with the power it's got, it actually goes through the traps way below peak rpm. I believe it had gone 1.6 or 1.7 sec. 60ft. The car gets off the line great!
He is putting the LT4 Hotcam and rockers in it currently.
