We're better than geeks...
We're geeks who can openly admit it ^_^

You have a point there. It would make a for a funny fan fiction, though. Hmmm...in fact, maybe I'll tackle that one. Maybe I'll write about a day where Van can't put his wings back. That could be chapters of fan girl entertainment...hee hee

Not gunna lie- I died! XD Reminds me of the time when I cosplayed Beedrill (from pkmn) and had to try and buzz my way through the dealers room- with OUT smacking someone with my bug wings. XD Ahhhh.....not fun. -_-;

lol just fly down :P

where did you get the feathers?

This is probably why van flies with his wings instead of walking with them XD

@DudeManOzzy Hellz yesh!

Wait! Why aren't the wings moving? You said they moved.

@ToxikElement2 I made a Valus the Minotaur (Shadow of the Colossus) costume for Otakon one year. It involved making a headdress out of very light metal. Over all, it wasn't very heavy- 7-10 lbs as a bare bones structure. Then I added the nerf padding, the faux fur, the glow sticks, and the doll on top. Still not too bad- about 12 lbs.
Then I had to wear it for 10 hours straight, and suddenly it was hell. DON'T USE METAL IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!!

You spend months making this AMAZING get-up, accurate to a T, and like nothing the con has ever seen... and then you put it on and realize you forgot you have to actually SURVIVE in it for a day.
Oh cosplay: you make fools of us all, no matter how incredible we look.

@XBakaNinGyoX I have a series of videos about how I made the wings. The harness is a bike rack.

I'm going to be making 6-7 foot tall wings for my Abel Crusnik form. Working out its mechanics on being able to have them down, or up, as well as giving them the ability to be broken down into 3 segments to fit into a car. The whole cosplay won't be done until around 2012. My friend will be Esther-she's a metal smith and will make all of our metal parts ^^

@ToxikElement2 Let me recommend NOT using metal as the frame for your wings. It will be very VERY heavy. Perhaps too heavy to carry, if they are 6-7 feet. Seriously. You don't want to use metal. Wood, PVC, pretty much anything but wood would be a lighter, cheaper option.

I just watched your tutorial and now watched this... can't you fold them further to make walking easier? I don't want to spend all this time, effort and money, making wings if they don't fold completely...
That being said, these wings, even if they were stationary, are beautiful. I would love to know where you got the idea to use the clothes drying rack. Thanks for the great tutorial and have a wonderful day.

@Ayng They do fold, but not completely. In this video, I was using a really awful harness that took away a lot of their folding ability. However, even when I improved the harness, they don't fold COMPLETELY shut. It is simply the bulk of the feathers. They can only bunch up so much before there just isn't more room for them to fold.
