@shanshanbailey No I have no problem with her English. I have no problem with her. the problem I have is she is elevated as a smart God-like human philosopher when her poetry is only that of the ordinary, at best. She is "Dr" Maya Angelou people as you admit, and I do appreciate that, should not be awarded with advanced degrees. Let her tell me the extremely difficult equations and real break through s as opposed to third grade poetry then we will see whether she is Dr. material

@stevemtc1 It appears that your problem is with her use of the english language, and not the poetry in itself? The type of poetry she writes is poetry of the heart, soul bearing, and emotional enriching. Her IQ may be low, but thats the beauty of the 'arts', it has no prejudice. She has saved lives, souls, empowered women, human rights, its the basic things that society lacks and needs more of. Instead of building castle in sand and wondering why we self destruct.

@shanshanbailey Her poetry is needed more than Steve Jobs advancements???? You see that's my whole argument. Her poetry is quite elementary at best. It is way over-rated. Ive heard almost as good a poetry from 7th and 8th graders or at least. Henry Ford, Steve Jobs George Washington are far more needed than the obvious words she writes. Beautiful person, yes. Lovely and precious yes I love her but she is not a great mind Her IQ is that of a 19year old plain and simple

@stevemtc1... Those students write literature that is real and relevant to them. Poetry is an art form, it has no guidelines or formualas, it's very much personal to the individual. Your favourite musician doesn't advance infrastructure, neither does the person who painted a picture hanging on your wall. Jobs introduced 'art' and 'culture' to technology that already existed, it wasn't complusory, but innovative! Maya's wordly contribution is that on a humanitarian level, far more needed in life

@summerbunny612 The failed U S education system is partially credited towards these people who write so called literature. Instead of studying ways to advance science or infrastructure the students are subjugated to these dumb-down poets who would be better served as fry cooks. She is an illusion of talent. Besides what difference does it make when I posted this I was out on Sat.night and came home checked my e-mails as I frequently do thanks to those like Steve Jobs not Maya Angelou

@stevemtc1 Words of wisdom: spend better use of your time than bashing an 80 year old writer and civil rights icon. As the unskilled populace that you talk about is due to people like you wasting considerable time online. The fact that you posted this at 2am Sunday morning said much about your Saturday night...
-
@stevemtc1 Thanks for confirming that you're just another Youtube loser whose a product of the failed US education system. First, get yourself enrolled in some remedial classes and think about a degree program before you write anything else. And no online college either. Second, from what I could decipher in your rant you concluded that I don't know what art is, yet you're the one who initially criticized Angelou. She was known way before Oprah, the Clinton's, & your parent's conception of you.
-
@everyonesnose I may have over-stated the Oprah point but anybody's grandmother can do the same thing there is nothing different than her and yours and my grandmother shes not any smarter or more intellectual than our parents Im sure your grandmother had just as or even better poetry but they weren't made famous because. My 4th cousin should be just as famous he sliced potatoes and put them in a bag it became Lays Potato Chips. Now if you have poetry thats good but hers doesn't rank
-
@stevemtc1 ahh, she was famous before Oprah actually,
she was a poet during the civil rights movement and
was simply asked to write a book.
She was a fry cook in her teens to support her children...
So what im trying to say is that... Oprah had nothing to do with her being a poet.
and yes, her poetry isn't sophisticated as her peers,
but that's what makes her style so inspiring and interesting.

@summerbunny612 I must add, that America has added value to this so called wisdom you speak of and it has resulted in endless prattle and an unskilled populace. But I will say this she is the sweetest thing and I love her but she is selling BLUE SKY! With out Oprah and the Clintons she a fry cook.
she is very inspirational and all of her accolades are deserving and her body of work is just amazing purchase all for her books love them all love you maya
