Troparion of the Veneration of the Epitaphios:
Come and let us bless Joseph of everlasting memory, who came to Pilate by night and begged for the Life of all: 'Give me this stranger, who has no place to lay His head. Give me this stranger, whom His evil disciple delivered to death. Give me this stranger, whom His Mother saw hanging on the Cross, and with a mother's sorrow she cried weeping: "Woe is me, my Child! Woe is me, Light of mine eyes and beloved fruit of my womb! For what Simeon foretold in the temple is come to pass today: a sword pierce my heart, but do Thou change my grief to gladness by Thy Ressurrection." '
We venerate Thy Passion, O Christ.
We venerate Thy Passion, O Christ.
We venerate Thy Passion, O Christ, and Thy Holy Resurrection.

  • What language is this ?

  • @ellkat58

The language is Church Slavonic, pronounced according to the Russian model.

  • Hearing this is like the annihilation of intense Love! The labour of Faith, the fruit of Hope, and the everlasting splendour of Charity; I wish I could speak more of it, but this post is trite enough in commenting on the ineffable.

  • Magnifico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for answering my question

  • Wonderful heavenly music. So solemn.

  • Merci beaucoup José Ramon Moran for sharing this hidden byzantine place in Europe. I loved your byzantine work in St.Nikolai Bardowick (Germany) every sunday as well. I will sing and pray with you in this beautifull location church soon as possible.

  • they in fact, are catholic.

i have a cd of them from the 80's and instead of praying for the patriarch, they pray instead for the pope of rome.

  • This video is of the Byzantine Catholic Rite at the Monastery of Chevetogne. They have both a Latin and a Byzantine (Eastern Catholic) church at the monastery. We may note, however, that many Orthodox churches also use the Byzantine rite.

  • @remline This is not "catholic rite." It is Orthodox.
