thanx soooo much for posting. havent heard this song in a looonnnnggg time!! it brings back so many precious memories. really looking forward to meeting Jim Reeves when i get to heaven
On second thought, the edited version that we signed off with at WNAK must have been about one minute long or so. It was a beautiful way to end the programming day on what was once a great radio station. Jim Reeves' voice was a comforting presense as it blanketed the Wyoming Valley every evening, as he sang this wonderful song.
I've been searching for this song for many years. In 1984, I was a disc jockey at WNAK in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. I had the last show of the day, and the station signed off at sunset. Instead of "The Star Spangled Banner," WNAK signed off with this song. I always loved it. The version that we played at WNAK at sign-off was an edited version of the song, no more than a half-minute in length. It was the perfect way to sign off. Hearing it here, it's the first time I've heard the entire song.
Incidentally, WNAK was not a religious station. We played American Standards, as sung by Perry Como, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Kay Starr, and many others. The station was sold a couple of years ago to a conglomerate. Radio sure isn't what it used to be. In fact, the radio business is just horrendous now, thanks to de-regulation. Money, not quality, is the ONLY thing that radio conglomerates and monopolies are interested in. It's ALL money-driven now. Pure greed has killed radio. It's sad.

God shouldn't regret this awesome gift he gave to him.
