This is aerial video of a Federal Express 727 takeoff from LGA in the early AM from a perspective that not many people get to experience. Shot from a chopper back in the mid nineties by yours truly, this video is for those who really enjoy watching jets takeoff. I think you are going to enjoy this unique video perspective. Starts from almost directly overhead the aircraft and ends with a big zoom out that gives you an idea how powerful the lens on a chopper camera is. Thanks for watching and feel free to comment.

  • That is awesome! You did a tremendous job!! I miss the 727 dearly; I flew on United Airline 727s a lot and it was always a great flight.

  • Thanks for the compliments. I always thought the 727 was a great looking aircraft. Noisy, but nice looking...

  • @RCKenpilot uhm wait... does fedex still use this livery?

  • @seaboo143 This video was shot in the mid -90's. All their aircraft seem to have the mostly white paint job with FedEx painted on the side. This one still says Federal Express! That should indicate how long ago I shot this video sequence. ;-)

  • Something simular to this was done with Northwest Airlines at MSP in the late 90's. No problems until KARE aired the video. Someone from the FAA saw it and...BAM!!!...the f.o. and captain "had their tit in a ringer" from the FAA. I never heard the out-come.

  • great video. i was reminded of my days as an a&p at a litttle repair station in everett, wa. called tramco. we re-engined two 727-200's for fed-ex. should have seen those jump off the runway outfitted with bigger engines and no load, it was impressive.

  • @gonetoworkbbackin5mi The FedEx 727s used to drop off overnight packages at LGA and then ferry to EWR empty. Not sure if they still do this.

  • That one was climbing good, say 4000 fpm -- must have been empty.

  • I think I prefer that livery to the new one. And those three engines on the tail make it look so sleek, almost like a rocket. Awesome plane, awesome video!

  • Wow....seldom can see this kind of view. Gud Job! Post more video.

  • I miss this plane. Great capture!!

  • @RCKenpilot Wow! That's really nice. I always love to see a classic plane from a unique view.

  • Very nice vid! Just sub'd. Please do the same. THANKS!
