The Annual High Heel Race in Washington DC, is a favorite Halloween event for locals and tourists alike. The race is run down 17th Street in Dupont Circle, between P and S streets NW, at 9 o'clock in the evening every Tuesday before Halloween. We arrived roughly 6:30 pm, and despite the unpleasant weather, the streets were already lined three or four people deep. After a pit stop and a killer Martini, at a local pub, we made our way back to the raceway, and got as close as we could manage. The rain had gotten a tad bit more annoying in the meantime, but it certainly didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the racers. The parade before the race was just like falling down a rabbit hole and landing in a very enjoyable Wonderland. The majority of this vid are snippets of the parade. The race itself is seen at the end.
Thank you to Mark and Sam who took me to this bizarre and wonderful event. Thank you drag queens of DC for putting on such a fantastic show. I can't wait til next year!
And thank you Kevin MacLeod at Incompetch for the music used in this presentation.
