This is a garden project for you apartment dwellers. We are going to take this tub and plant some seeds in it. One tub is going to get turnip seeds and the other is going to get spinach seeds.

  • You might want to mention to drill a or poke a few holes in the bottom of your little garden. If not your crop and seeds are going to rot!!!! JMHO.

  • soul71 - thank you, but this has already been discussed.

  • @ 2:50 - Why do you have to wait to replant in the other sections? is it because of the nutrients for the other seeds that are growing, we should wait to plant the other 3rd of the container?

    newbie XD

  • 10teeleaf - if you plant everything at one time, it will all be ready to harvest at one time. Spreading out the planting time allows you to harvest the food over a period of time.

  • Tubs!!!

  • we got tubs!!!!!

  • i never knew you lived in a trailor?

  • @soul71 I used the exact same kind of tub myself and grow all sorts of vegetables in them, though instead of poking holes in them (you mean for drainage right?) I fill the bottom with stones and then pour soil on top. Works for me!

  • I love the enthusiasm you have and the concept of this video, but if you were in a real emergency situation where canned goods couldn't hold you for a few months (while your plants grow) WHY would anyone still be in their apartment lol? At that point it would be every man for himself to fight for resources. If a disaster that bad hit what would you do for clean water for your plants?

Like I said..great concept, bad idea if that was a real emergency situation. Kudos though, on to ep 2 I go!

  • check out "window farming" for a different spin on small space food production.

  • Good information. Everyone should do what they can to grow a little food. Get a 6 pack of lettuce and plant them around the edge of a 12" pot.
