I'm not surprised that in the premiere of this concerto, some people leave the theatre saying the concerto was a ----... I love this movement!!!! It's so "heavy", so... Prokofiev!!
I don't know if it's the sound quality but TatTwamAsi really is right, it doesn't sound as delicate and subtle as when others play it. First part of the piano really sounds quite jagged in expression.
This is easily one of my favorite piano concertos, along with Leo Ornstein's and Tchaikovsky's first. Prokofiev's unique modern style can be both unnervingly beautiful (1st movement) and marked with dissonant ferocity (3d movement)
amazing piece. To anyone else If you can't enjoy this concerto from these people, I suggest you learn how to enjoy music before you learn how to play it.

This is a very delicate, subtile but sarcastic (humoristic) peace (Intermezzo, for crying softly ...).
It is however played as a dark peace, as the conductor prescribed this concerto. But it is NOT!
This conductor must retire instantly!
