There is no audio until 0:27 seconds....

Your laptop speakers aren't gonna work for this one. A subwoofer would certainly help. The low frequencies from the left side filter (set to notch mode) are rich and add depth to any signal. In this case, its the MachineDrum.

The right side filter is set to 6dB high pass mode. We use the triangle LFO to modulate the cutoff frequency and then some of the resonance. We're also modulating the filter in parts with the envelope. You have both positive and negative envelopes at your disposal as well as two EG's that can control the VCA or filter(s) or both.

Hopefully this video will come through in a high enough quality to notice the very fluid tone of the filter. This video shows a more subtle side of the Schippmann. There's more to come as we delve deeper, start to use some of the back panel features and stir up a raucous!

  • I have a question about the Ebb und Flut. I had the Sherman Filterbank 2 for a while and sold it because I found it took too much volume to really drive the inputs on it. Now is the Ebb und Flut easier to drive? Thanks.

  • @crpederson The ebbe und flut input is a little more sensitive than the Sherman, but the ebbe und flut has been out of production for a couple of years. There are plenty of ways to boost a signal though.

  • I'm nervous about buying one because Sound on Sound review says it is really noisy :(

  • Sound on Sound normally does great reviews, but I did not agree with that one at all. The reviewer seemed to miss the point that the Ebbe & Flut is a one-of-a-kind piece of gear. You cannot recreate it with any combination of other gear. The sound is simply amazing. It inspires most users the moment they lay their hands on it.

I never found the original version to be noisy, but the new version (with a more glossy front) is quieter than the original version (which you see in our videos).

  • So what do you think Roger? Best Filter you ever heard?

    xpando

  • Hmm... Let me think for two seconds.... YES! There are other classic filters that no filter addict could possibly live without (Sherman Filterbank and Korg MS10 immediately come to mind). But the ebbe has such an incredibly beautiful, liquid quality to it.

The first time I sat down with an ebbe, I had five minutes to spend. I ended up tweaking around on it for nearly an hour before realizing I was very late for an appointment. My advice - set an alarm clock. The ebbe is too much fun.

  • I do not know whose cool, spacey music that is, but you can hear the dry signal between 0:27 - 0:36.

At 0:36 the ebbe und flut is switched out of the 'bypass' mode.

  • love the sounds and the filters ! BUt......whats making all the noises that are being filtered ?

  • Ah, thank you!

  • Hi. The Ebbe and Flut is bypassed at the beginning. It's switched on at :36. All the other effects, mostly reverb, are from the Elektron.
