The government of Colombian president Alvaro Uribe has been paralyzed by allegations that highly placed officials colluded with paramilitary groups implicated in assassinations and drug smuggling, even as Uribe presses the United States for a lucrative trade deal and to continue its massive flow of military and counter-narcotics aid.

The fear on the children's faces is palpable. They know that neither the Colombian government and their Paramilitary collaborators, or the FARC care that hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians die or are made homeless by the so-called "Drug War", which only benefits drug dealers, Colombian Government Officials, and of course--US weapons manufacturers.
