My goal here is to save other people from buying a DEFIANT WOODSTOVE or ANYTHING from this company. They operate like a mom and pop operation and a bad one at that....

Hi NWD...YES IT'S BEEN A LOT OF TROUBLE AND WE HAD THE STOVE EXAMINED BY BAC CORP WHICH WAS THE DISTRIBUTOR FOR CHIMNEY SWEEP CORP. IN PINE BUSH NY WHERE WE PURCHASED THE STOVE AND IT WAS AGREED THAT THE STOVE WAS 'DEFECTIVE'. WE'VE DONE EVERYTHING TO CURE WHAT WE 'THOUGHT' WAS A DRAFT PROBLEM...I STAND BY MY STATEMENT THAT 'THERE IS NO VERMONT CASTINGS ANYMORE ONLY MONHESSEN HEARTH AND THEY HAVE NO INTEGRITY'...STAY AWAY PEOPLE!!!

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM VERMONT CASTINGS BECAUSE THERE IS NO VERMONT CASTINGS! ITS MONHESSEN HEARTH AND WHEN YOU HAVE A WOODSTOVE THAT IS DEFECTIVE THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND UNTIL IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AT WHICH TIME THEY SAY 'SORRY WE CAN'T HELP YOU!!' STAY AWAY!!!! SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A COMPANY THAT HAS INTEGRITY I POSTED A VIDEO UNDER "DO NOT BUY VERMONT CASTINGS' TO SHOW THE PUFF BACK ISSUE THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS...STAY AWAY!!!!

Sorry for your trouble - We have not had any problems with Vermont Castings wood stoves. Furthermore, issues related to back buffing are almost always related to the chimney system and the draft configuration with the installation.

@NWDsalesguy
These stoves are sold in large numbers and the overall designs have been tried and tested throughout the years. Possible defective issues with individual units are always possible, but I would not condemn the entire line.

@NWDsalesguy Also, Vermont casting is a brand name owned and manufacturers by Monessen hearth products, which is also Majestic Hearth products. Monessen took over Majestic Hearth Products a few years ago and the VC brand name came in under that acquisition, very common in the industry with consolidation. I'd have a local chimney professional look at your system, may need to clean or try to shorten the connectors. iId be interested in how this works out. Keep us posted
