In 1964, in honour of Shakespeare's 400th birthday, the Beatles performed this play-within-a-play on "Around the Beatles."
* I did not colourise this skit, it's from a DVD called "the Beatles Explosion" *

Act V, Scene I text

(You've got to scroll down a third of the page, to the stage direction "Enter Pyramus and Thisbe, Wall, Moonshine, and Lion", that's where the skit starts)

  • Johns "SHADDUP!" always gets me. XD I love when Paul says 'Die, Die!' and all the girls go 'No!' and he gets up and says 'It's alright, it's alright.' in that cute accent. I also love Georges outfit! 'see ya George' And Ringo's roar. XD I love them all. <3

  • "this lantern is the moon this thorn bush is my thorn bush and this doggie woggie is my dog"

  • @mac899 He said "Look, you."

  • @maroon5lovers15 No, you're right. I watched it about half a dozen times again. I guess the first time I saw him leer at the camera. He had a heck of a time handling the dog but did a fantastic job.

I swear Shakespeare will never be the same for me. Off to watch it again.

  • @tarheelveteran haha true! except i think George is wiggling his eyebrows at 1:02, you just can't tell all that much 'cuz of his hairline!

  • The hecklers and screaming girls were a true Shakespearean audience, except they weren't throwing any peanut shells. Looks like one girl pulled the guy's hair like SHUT UP!!

Awww, Ringo XD I played Lion in high school once. You did a much better job.

haha leave it to the Beatles to wear their ankle boots with their costumes

  • I don't remember when I laughed this hard at anything!! Deep breaths now, deep breaths. Pause it. Put the coffee down and hit the bathroom.

1:02 George: You film this and I'll punch you.

You know Wall wasn't too thrilled.

John and Paul were killing me. You can tell they were having a blast. John's such a ham.

George looked miserable but did a fantastic job.

I wish they'd done "The Twelth Night"

Lads, you ruined it for me. I'll never read Shakespeare again without thinking about this.

  • 4:18 Did he just say "fuck you"?

  • i love how Paul roles his eyes at the camera rofl :'D
