Korean Style Bullfighting

Even though I grew up in Arizona and traveled to Mexico often in my adulthood. I never got the chance to see a bullfight. I was shocked to learn that in Korea, there's bullfighting, too. But it's not what you think. There's no matador or red cape. There's no sword and bloodied bull at the end, either. No, Korean bullfighting has its roots based in farming games between landowners and goes back nearly 1000 years.

It's a small town about 40km south of Daegu and home to one of Korea's best arenas for this amazing sport. I do call Korean Bullfighting a sport, because the matches are divided into weight classes (the heaviest being over 1000kg) and the "fight" is really a wrestling match. The two bulls are brought in by their trainers and squared off. The animals lock horns and then maneuver around the dirt lot until one backs down. During the match, trainers shout instructions (it's almost like a real life version of Pokémon).

I like how bull fight stops when one of the bull turns away, it's not violent like Spanish bullfighting.

bull owner saying this is my bulls staminar food. it gives him a more energy.... korean bulls also do excercise,running the village with their owner and also at the same time they do work on their owners farm, like a grounding land that soils can mix with the others well. many bulls owners dont eat this bulls even they get old... they let them live till they get too old, or the last breath away to naturally die or some with illness then they bury them.

bullfighting is one of a very old traditional korean culture in history, winner bulls get big prizes to their owner, fighting bulls appetied is kind a differents too, its all upto the bulls owner. i seen one this guy was feeding his own bulls with raw live octopus. of course he mince them small as possible but , i saw the piece of octopus was still moving. then he mix that suckers with some of sesame seed oil. so this is the way the octopus wont stuck on their inside of stomach.

I hope that i can see a Spanish black bull vs Korea brown bull fighting one day.

If you don't like spanish bullfighting don't watch, but our traditions have 2.000 years or more (they do also in south of france). We have a lot of traditions with bulls, not always killing them. we also run with them, etc...
