  • ooooooorrrr... you can hook up the solar cells the same way as well as the batteries inside the lawn light and allow those to charge and then use the batteries to charge up your cell phone.

  • but will it blend?

  • orrr even easier....go buy one

  • They need to call the show "It's VAGUELY Effen' science!".

If they say they are going to show how to make a solar charger, then they should actually show how to make one.

  • @l1cht in america, cell phone charges you... $200/mo

  • So based on this and the USB powered toaster, I'd say these cretins just come up with an idea, don't test it, tape some wires together, and fake the rest.

Solar cells put out about 0.5V each in full sunlight. The circuitry inside the lawn light steps it up to 2.5V to charge a couple of NiCd batteries, but at very low current.

It'll take days for minutes of talk time. A belt is a bad idea, because the shaded cell will limit current as if they were all in shade.

    Obviously untested.

  • it would be better on a hat

  • so like... weres the demonstration...?

  • @killophonist I've only seen this show once. It's definitely not for people who take life too seriously or scientists or anything. This show takes a comedic approach on science.

  • @WindIove He reminds me of Jon Heder lol.
