@polc318 It's when you start listening to alot of hip hop this style that you understand the difference between old school hip hop, and what people call commercial shit, I start undertstanding now, just by listening to lyrics

@mecca521 solar how you get your snares to sound like two feathers touching ????
-
@ItzFakkelteit Yeah, those are the most common terms, but the problem is that rap is one of the hip hop arts, so talking shit about rap would basically be talking shit about the main verbal expression in hip hop. I think that the "real hip hop" term is pretty solid. Well, there people might confuse it with the "keep it real" saying that is known to promote the gangsta rap ideals. Not that it originally is meant to mean that, but that's what it means to most people now.

Guru and Solar are tight.....nice track
its a pain when you tell people you're into hiphop and they assume you're some mongoloid who listens to lil wayne and 50 cent when truely, if they even knew about the hip hop you listen to they'd be giving mad props. This hip hop is amazing and everyone with a decent sense of music would appreciate if they knew of its existence

Dilla and solar liked the same sample source
the original is from the belgian jazzfunkfusion group Placebo from the album "ball of eyes"(1971) not to be mistaken with the rock group placebo. if you say that this beat is more uptempo and engaging the the "original" beat you should give props to marc moulin (fronman of placebo) who died last august i think, because of throath cancer ( he was a heavy smoker) only thing solar did was looping it in different patterns.
