Here's a local celebrity brown that we often run into a particular "Golden" hotel in Muldraugh, KY. We tried to pet the bat but he did not appear to like it. Bats are good for the environment. Under no circumstance should you ever harm them. NEVER, unless it's stuck in the side of your neck.. Brown bats are mosquito eaters, not blood suckers. So he's cool! Just does not like being woken up by petting him.

  • Why do you state the benefits of bats but title this as "rabid"? That just perpetuates the rumor that bats are all rabid. And please, for your own safety, NEVER "pet" or handle any bat, and never rescue one bare-handed. As with any wild mammal, if you're bitten, you never know if they've been bitten and are carrying a disease that doesn't show prominent sings.

They may be cute to many people, but they're still very wild.
