Partnership helps heart attack patients receive treatment in 90 minutes at Trillium Health Centre

Trillium Health centre is the first hospital to partner with three municipal Emergency Medical Services Halton, Toronto and Peel to offer a 24/7 response to patients suffering an S-T Elevated Myocardial Infarction or STEMI. Patients are brought directly to Trillium Health Centre, where the regions only catheterization lab treats this type of heart attack with a balloon catheter and stent to open the blocked coronary. Research has shown that this is the most effective treatment for this type of heart attack.

Our patients receive that critical care within 90 minutes or less. Bypassing the patients home hospital substantially reduces the time to treatment when literally every second matters.
