  • Mr. Edwards,

I'm so excited about your candidacy! If you are elected, I trust your word that you will raise taxes more. Since 50% of my income goes towards taxes already, I'll be better off collecting welfare or I'll file for Soc Security benefits because I get charlie horses + my hemorrhoids have been giving me trouble lately. I certainly won't have to worry about a health ins policy anymore with you in office! I'll have everything I need. Good luck John!

  • 35 Billion dollars of new taxes on smokers. Please don't demonize smokers. According to the CDC the majority of smokers live at or below the US poverty levels. Extimates indicate that 60% of young black urban males smoke. In what world does it makes sense to have a minority group made up larely of a poor young and undeducated population bear the burden of a program that will benefit the majority?

  • John Edwards will restore America's moral authority in the world. I am sick to death of the embarassing behaviour of Bush and Cheney. Is it 2008 yet????

  • Democrats were hoping to pass off a SKUNK of a bill, as a sweet puppy dog of a bill.

    IF

the Democrats REALLY wanted to continue the SCHIP program which helped Graeme Frost--

    THEN

they could have passed a SCHIP bill like the one which helped Graeme Frost.

    But they didn't.

They weren't even happy with the President's offer of an ADDITIONAL $5 billion dollars.

  • CrowdPleeza: Smoking is addictive for a reason. Smokers are resourceful, they find ways to get their cancer sticks even IF it costs them extra.

    Another moron posting!!!!!!

  • Aren't there legitimate funding issues with this SCHIP expansion? Using a cigarette tax to fund it is counterproductive because the gov't would need more people to smoke. But in reality a tax on cigarettes would reduce the number of smokers causing a reduction in SCHIP funding.

  • I don't have confidence the SCHIP bill will pass because of Bush's veto pen. I don't have confidence that anything significant will pass period. The only thing I can think of that is highly unlikable to happen is another Boston tea party to get things accomplished.
