This consists of a PC running Labview and a National Instruments Interface Card (DAQ). A motor driver connect the motor and propellor to the PC and the PC senses the helicopter height using an optical encoder.
A Labview program implements PID control with the ability to modify each of the gain elements to control the helicopter stability.

  • You could use a pot, but these tend to add too much friction.
