Mega Man 9, Mr. Perfect run: Magma Man (8 of 12)

Break out the Laser Trident. Those flamethrowers suck something fierce. Watch this video closely, as every strategy I use is something a normal player should consider... except that leap over the 4-block wide pit. If I were really paranoid, I'd BHB the tree overhead and use something like Hornet Chaser or Plug Ball to kill the small magma roller thingy.

Magma Man himself... if you know his style of fighting well enough, you should be able to kill him even if if doesn't go into the optimal pattern (one high jump to the left to start) that allows an easy Tornado Blow double hit for a quick finish. The timing for that double hit is that you need to launch T. Blow when you see him telegraph his jump from the very bottom, and then hit fire when your brain registers the sight. Do NOT fire beforehand! It won't work!

Now, if something goes wrong like it did here, BHB and Jewel Satellite will become your best friends. Black Hole Bomb can absorb his shots and has a nice, wide area of effect, not to mention that Magma Man's jumps sometimes take him out of and right back into range like in the Jewel Man fight. Jewel Satellite can protect you from the flames and still has a wide area of effect if you don't have any BHB left, but I wouldn't take advantage of the latter property unless I had a clean shot.

However, as dangerous as Magma Man gets when you can't get the double hit, he's also about to enter his recharging state. As long as you can hit him twice prior to that, you can definitely finish him when he stands still, and that will be the end of it.

Yeah, Black Hole Bomb sucks up pretty much everyone's shots, including Wily Machine's fire stream and both of Wily Capsule's attacks. I don't think Jewel Satellite will work against Magma Man's Bazooka, though
