When I walked in the class I remembered that I have this class with Alexis. Awkward. She probably isnt in here. She probably ran home after everything that happened. But I was surprised when I walked in and saw her sitting the back of the classroom.
Thank you for joining us, Mr. Jonas. Please take a seat and see me after class. Great.
I didnt reply and took a seat in front of Alexis. Im not outgoing, but Im not shy either. So I dont have a problem talking to people I dont know very well.
Hey, how ya doin? I whispered leaning back in my chair so Alexis could hear me. Apparently she wasnt the outgoing type. Good. She whispered. Maybe shes just shaken up. I dont care what it takes, Im bound to figure out why a girl like her would want to die. It has to have something to do with that boyfriend of hers David, he seems like such a tool. Before I knew it the bell was ringing and I had to see my teacher after class. As I walked up to her desk I realized that Alexis was doing the same. She must have been late too. I dont appreciate tardiness in my classroom, understood? She asked firmly. Alexis wasnt used to get in trouble. Obviously. Of course, it will never happen again. I couldnt help but laugh at her urgency. Our teacher glared at me. You have something to say, Mr. Jonas? I wiped the smerk off my face and shook my head.
Alright, off you go you too. Alexis sped walked out of the room but I caught up with her. Hey, Taylor I said forcefully. I call people by their last names a lot. And hers was cute. She didnt turn so I grabbed her arm and turned her around. She looked like she was holding back tears, but I could never imagine her crying. Shes a really strong girl, Im sure it was just my imagination. What? What do you want huh?! You saved my life, okay thanks! What else do you want me to say?! She was yelling now and people around us were starting to stare. I wasnt trying to cause a scene. I just want to make sure youre okay. I whispered, trying to calm down. I now realized that I was right. There were tears brimming her eyeslids, threatening to fall. But she wouldnt let them. Ooohhh, you wanna know if Im okay now that the whole school knows I tried to kill myself?! Now that everyone thinks Im a crazy freak that cant deal with anything?! People were definitely staring now. She lowered her voice to a whisper. Well Im a big girl, and I can take care of myself. She backed up a little and whispered again. Im fine. Thats when she turned around and sped walked out of the building.
ALEXIS POV
At lunch that day I felt eyes on me from all angles, I heard whispers from all directions, and its really getting on my nerves. David came to sit by me, and I already knew what was coming.
What the hell is wrong with you? He whispers so that others cant hear the argument thats about to start.
What do you mean? I ask, like I dont know what hes talking about.
Telling the whole school you tried to commit suicide! What the hell is that?! Trying to get attention? Well newsflash, no ones buying it. And what were you doing with Jonas?! He whisper yelled. Oh yeah, thats the guys name.. Jonas. Joseph was his name. Hes really cute, but Ive learned not to think about other guys like that, because it could never happen. I belong to David until he wants to end the relationship And who knows when that could be.
Look, I need some space. Please just leave me alone for awhile. I got up and tried to walk away but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back down. It hurt, but I wouldnt show it. He looked at me with a forceful face. I glared at him and attempted to get up again. This time he twisted my arm all the way around until he heard a pop. It didnt break or anything, but it hurt really bad. This made me yelp a little, and thats when he came again. It seems like hes always there when I need someone. Like hes always there to save the day.. Joe walks up casually and sits down, acting like he didnt see what David was doing. There a problem here? He asked giving David the deadliest glare Ive ever seen. Get outta here, Jonas. No one needs you. You were a hero once, you dont need to do it again. David was still holding his firm grip on my arm as he spoke. As he tightened it I closed my eyes hard trying to ignore the pain. Thats when Joe grabbed his arm and pulled it forcefully off of mine. I had no idea anyone was stronger then David He was the captain of the football team, and he held the bench press record at our school. He. Was. Strong. No one messed with him. Except Joe, I guess. Joe pulled on my hand forcefully, but not anywhere near as bad as David. It wasnt painful, but more of protective. We ran out of the building and out to the little kids playground.
