@RoguishBlonde in this production, just after the twins first appear simultaneously at the end, it is Feste who returns the necklace Viola took off at the beach after the shipwreck, so confirming that he knew all along. Not sure about other productions, though the banter about the beard certainly implies it

@RoguishBlonde i think (here specifically) he knows SOMETHING, the audience is never really clear on wether he KNOWS. but we are sure he does "know" if you understand me.... LOL
-
Toby Stephens is AMAZING. I also agree with the first comment. I think he knew Viola was a woman.
-
@RoguishBlonde I have found that in many productions, Feste sees Viola come onshore and hears the conversation between she and the captain. Also, the point of Feste is that he is sort of omniscient, and knows what is ACTUALLY going on.
-
@Emsmaline ummm it is written in and it was apart of the original script
-
Orsino is unsure of his sexuality in this scene.

hey guys if you search wallaby17171 feste you can check out me as i perform my final song. So far feste has been my favorite role so I just want some of you guys to check it out. and yes Roguishblonde there is without a doubt that feste knows that viola is a woman... hence the line "who you are and what you WOULD are..."
i think feste knows all along that viola's a woman. he's smarter than everyone else. maybe not in the text, but i think i remember evidence in the acting of this movie that suggests that. anyone know?
