@dancello there are different sizes and weights of tai chi balls, some are made of stone, wood, or metal, I think that a bowling ball could used as a tai chi ball, it really depends on what you want to do with it. some like it heavy metal ones for jing training, while others prefer light wooden ones for chi training.
Also, Grandmaster Fu Zhen-Song used to practice these types of movments with a solid stone ball! Including Ball dropping/catching techniques into the body,...(kids' don't try this at home!)
Very good for building strength and western bowling technique!!
