San Francisco's Haight-Asbury neighborhood is synonymous with 1967's Summer of Love, and the birth of the hippy movement. More than 40 years later, young Japanese tourists jockeyed with aging hippies this afternoon when I checked out shops selling tie-dyed T-shirts and every kind of marijuana paraphernalia you can imagine. Stores across San Francisco and the state sell high-grade pot for medical use, under a measure passed by voters in 1996; a doctor's prescription is required. Indeed, Haight Street is home to one of the city's better-known cannabis dispensaries: The Vapor Room. (Yelp gives it four stars!)
