You had to have seen them in the early 70s, with a vertirual wall of marshal amp's behind..

This is the Shit. Nudie-era ZZ with Pearly, Tele Bass....Jebus
-
IF Billy and Dusty starrted playing this way now their beards would catch on fire!
-
This the greatest thing I have ever seen! in All my 27 years!

MMMM... yeah that early fusion of cowboy, blues, mexicali, and psychedelic. They have talked about getting back to their "roots" sound. They need to listen to stuff like this.
-
It is sad, Billy doesn't play this way anymore.

CLASSIC BILLY GIBBONS AT HIS COWBOY BLUES BEST AND ONE OF THE TOP AT THIS TIME.. ;-)
-
Definitely their best period !
Most critics frown upon it but Tejas is my favorite ZZ Top record.....I'd love to see a live performance of Pan Am Highway Blues

There isn't enough performance footage out there from this era. I consider this the best era for ZZ Top, while they received more financial success from Eliminator forward, the mid-late 1970s was when they really tore it up.
Billy kinda sounds like Phil Lynott.

@173rdbobby1967 Well, considering the chronology of both bands, I'd say Phil Lynott sounds somewhat like Billy Gibbons.

That little ol band from Texas! Great stuff! Thanks for posting.
I saw this tour at the Summit in Houston, Thanksgiving night 1975.
Won 4 tickets from KLOL 101 FM. I was 12 years old and it changed my life.
I had never seen 3 people make so much amazingly cool noise.
They had a big ol longhorn steer, and some other livestock on the stage.
Bought a red T-shirt that said "Take me downtown, I'm just looking for some tush" and smoked my first fatty that night.......

@RamBozo3 Yeah, I saw them at the Summit on Thanksgiving during the World Wide Texas Tour, they did two shows that thursday and friday, all sold out. Still have the souvenir book. Some of the photos on my other ZZ Top vids came from that book.
