That's what i get for shooting from the hip MrYoda. I was incorrect when I said it's not firmware upgradeable. It definitely is, by using a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray player. You download the update from Yamaha's website, burn it to CD, then play it on a player connected to the receiver with a Optical or Coaxial digital cable.
My apologies for putting incorrect info out there.

@crutchfieldtv i thought this unit can be upgraded to 3D via CD. if that can be done, then why is this firmware non-upgradable?

You'll have barely enough power with that receiver. If you want amazing detail, lots of head room (crankability) and plenty of bass, you'll need more power. Something like the Yamaha RXA2000 Home Theater Receiver's 130 watts per channel.
Hope that helps

@VizionFX If you have a good subwoofer, it should make you smile. You can choose bass crossover from 40 hz to 200 hz. If you mean just driving mains, it is quite impresssive. It doesn't have the bass or power of my 8- year- old marantz SR 5300, and is a little bright like many entry to mid-range Yamaha receivers. But It has an "Adaptive DRC" mode that makes the dynamic range narrow when the volume is low for night viewing, and makes the dynamic range wide when the volume is high.
I just bought a bose acoustimass 10.Can anyone tell me if i can use a yamaha rx-v567 amplifier??

@meven1702 You can use the Yamaha RX-V567 receiver with the Bose Acoustimass 10 system. There should be a cable with that Bose system so the bass module can connect to the speaker and subwoofer outputs on the receiver.

Can anyone help me how to find the ip address on this receiver? Please

@Demmikk Because this model does not offer a networking feature, it does not have an IP address. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

Just wondering. Would this receiver be capable of handling a vcr, dvd or an x-box?
