Nine Inch Nails licenced their latest album "Ghosts i-iv" under the creative commons.

http://ghosts.nin.com/main/faq
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/

I made this video to accompany the music.
its a chance for me to mess around with some new video software (wax 2.0) and to upload some music without getting banned or sued.

I was going for something visually similar to year zero's artwork.
The imagery was created in camera by feedback caused by hooking up my video camera to a TV screen, and filming the screen while it is displaying what the camera is recording. Various filters were used (garbage bags, egg cartons, etc.) to control the colour and look of the noise being recorded.

The only digital effect in this video is some chroma key bluescreen/greenscreen stuff.

this video is released under the same licence as the music. see the link provided above.

  • It is 'pretty' and sorta fits the mood of the song imo. It's Okay.

  • thanks.

there are a few parts here and there that I am happy with, but over all I think this is more of a learning process than successful finished piece.

The video seems to 'pick up' at the end, along with the music. I don't know how that happened, I wasn't really doing anything differently when i shot it.

    thanks for watching.

  • hahaha.

    its like the 1960's, v2.0.

a lot of this video I am not overly pleased with, but as a test, or 'proof of concept' for a method to use later on, I feel it was a success.

I just learned more about what 'not to do' than 'what to do'.

If I do another, it has a good chance of being prettier.

  • Kyle, that's an interesting video you've got there. What is it?

  • Agreed, isn't that what this album in particular was trying to do?

  • Oh my GOD! you can use FILTERS! that's fuckin amaizing!

On a more serious note, I hate what you have done here. Assuming that the vomity mess of colors and nothingness you created were significant, It still goea on for THREE FUCKING MINUTES. I really hate being a dick, but my passion for film is really obstructing my manners. Do MORE! explore, record more stuff, tell us a story- SOMETHING!

  • hallucinating right about now :)
