I only ever saw Jesse Hockett run 1 time. And that was here at Calistoga, in 2006. Not only was he #1 qualifier, but he won his heat and the "A" main. I even told to my dad on the way home that "I feel bad for the guys that run this circuit all the time. Some guy from the midwest shows up and races a car and a track that he has never seen before and just whoops-up on everyone." During the "A" main, the only car that he didnt lap was the 2nd place car, and he was way over half a lap ahead of him!
Nice tribute. RIP Rocket. You will be missed. I got the chance to meet him the 1 time he raced in placerville. Right when I began talking to him I knew why so many people looked up to him. I was an instant fan. He was such a well rounded guy. He was definately a mentor to the sport of racing and sprint cars.
