LOL! Great memory for you though.

@xmascometh The very start of the clip is very sad when Jimmy Watson turns around with his trumpet perched on his head and says to me "hello John" - I just edited this out on the upload unfortunately. RIP Jimmy.

I played for the '72 recording session in the De Montford Hall and even though we must've rehearsed it a gazillion times, playing it again during the reunion was like sight reading it all over again! It was familiar, but no easier than it had been all those years ago!

Playing Brian is no easy task, that's for sure. It's fascinating to hear the orchestra gradually adjusting to the idiom. I liked hearing the tuba so prominently at one stage. Btw - did you work with nice, legible printed parts from United Music Publishers? You had to work with a facsimile of Brian's own score orginally, hadn't you?

A good question. In 1972 and 1974 the parts were just shocking and full of errors. In 1998 the parts were more eligible (see close up of Ken on tuba) so I assume that they were UMP parts. Not properly printed but much better. You mention adjusting to the idiom but the main issue was that we were all sight reading.
