Comics Vs. Film - Scott mccloud did a brilliant book called understanding comics. Comics are a Hybrid of Literature, Art, Animation and the principles of Cinema grammer. Which are: Continuity Editing , Scene Composition, Camera placement, and Lighting. Then there are the Different shots - close up, medium shots, establishing shots. Principles of lenses, zoom and wide angles etc. But then again, comics can be written like plays or film scripts, where the instruction is to the artist instead of the cinematographer. They can be expressionistic and completely ignore reality or ultra-realistic. Also they can just be verbatim journalism.These the things that set comics [or it's formal name-"sequential art"] apart from other art forms like Cinema. The Hybrid meshing of all
the different arts.
