A performance piece I did this spring. Its a reworking of Joseph Beuy's piece I like America and America likes me.

at least he could have not used the felt and cane but something a little bit more significant for this piece but then again its student work

THis was a satirical spin on bueys- I know if I wanted to get deep and metaphorical I could have used something that was more important to me - as felt was to bueys = but I couldn't figure out how to wrap myself in beer bottles and red bull.

Poor performance and not art, just like American Idols.

Personally I'm not a big fan of performance art... but I do like the fact that this type of art still frustrates people who can't look outside of a picture frame

Loses the reconnection with nature and shamanic theme beuys had throughout his work but a good modern days understanding of the piece.Much prefer the original though,this comes across as more of a pisstake

that's what i thought,if he can smash the TV with the stick then it means something but now is like:that's it? doesn't have any power at all,he waste a good idea,now this is just like a joke.

Just went back to the Walker Art Center to see the last few days of the Beuys show there... it's excellent, and includes "I like America and America Likes Me".
