Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24 by EMP

EMP's Christmas 2008 gift is a cover of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24". As we progressed with the song, it quickly became evident that we'd so closely captured the sound so as to almost make ourselves redundant... so, to differentiate our version, we included studio-quality narration - such as you hear when TSO performs in concert (to our knowledge, other than bootleg concert recordings, a high-fidelity version such as this does not exist).

As this piece gelled, Larry Curtis got the idea of expanding just a players music video into something that would be a whole lot more... a video that tried to visually capture the essence of the original composition. We hope that you find it as moving as did we.

BTW, don't know if we had anything to do with it - but TSO is now incorporating (in concert) the musical silence we did around the word "hope" (@ 1:59). When I first heard it this season, I gasped - then let go the biggest/widest grin I'd had in years! :D

Hi .... the parts of the intro were all mixed in post-production... the narration was timed to follow the original live reference track, but then it was all brought together in the studio with a few glasses of sherry! :-)

Cool vid How do you play the guitar part over the narration?

Dont feel too bad...I wasnt sure what to play on this. I cant even hear a bass guitar. I just played what I thought felt right. Looking back on it, I can see one or two spots I would modify. Also, I was deathly sick with the flu when we shot this. It was enjoyable in any case
