We got our vitamix today and I couldn't wait to try it out and make a video showing how to use it! The first thing I made in it was what was supposed to be a "green" smoothie like I've seen others make on youtube but it turned out a brown color, probably because of the blueberries.

Ingredients I Used:

1 bag of frozen mixed peaches, bananna's and strawberries
About 1/2 c. of frozen blueberries
About 1/2 c. of frozen strawberries
A little more than a cup of white grapes
a thin slice of lemon
About 3 handfuls of fresh baby spinach
1 banana

I also made a Broccoli, Chedder & Chicken Soup and chicken tenders for dinner.

Soup Ingredients:

A little over a cup of Broccoli
A little over a cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 cup of milk (I ended up only using the 1 c. and it was 2% milk instead of the recommended non fat or skim milk)
About one heaping tablespoon of garlic
1 small onion (quartered)
2 baked potatoes (quartered)
4 pieces of chicken tender strips (cut into bite size pieces)
About 1/2 to 1 c. of chicken stock (I just added more than a splash when I thought the soup looked a little thick)

If you are considering purchasing a Vitamix please check out my blog at http://nochiprasblogspot.blogspot.com/ and click one of my Amazon links where you can get a great deal on a Vitamix and other items. And, if you have a Vitamix I hope you will try these recipes. They turned out DELICIOUS!!! Thanks

  • My doctor has recommended I purchase one of these. Sure glad you demonstrated it...I just might order one...one of these days.

Hope your hollidays was great folks, I'm back now. I always enjoy your videos...good southern cooking like I had when visiting Missouri.

    Hugs,

    Aegan

  • We got it off of QVC which is a shopping channel on tv. We got it on a payment plan for about 5 or 6 months. Chip is a diabetic on insulin and has had a kidney transplant so we wanted something that could help his blood pressure & sugars by eating more fruits & veggies plus I need to lose weight & I'm hoping it will help me too. The smoothies are good & there are lots of youtube videos about it. I've already used it at least a dozen times and we haven't had it a week. Love the easy clean up.

  • I too ordered a red one from QVC. I have not received mine yet...I am soo jealous!! I cannot wait to make smoothies and put spinach in them just like you did. I have always heard you dont taste the spinach at all. I am making that soup too!! I saw them making that on qvc and I wanted some all day! ha Thanks for sharing!

  • I know you will totally enjoy it. I sure do. I was surprised that I didn't taste the spinach in it although I had heard that before. It's an amazing machine.

  • thanks for the share my friend..5******that friut looks lovely.5*****..@nn

  • Both things turned out great! I've started making a smoothie every day.

  • Thank you for sharing... Your voice reminded me so much of my late grandma I had to listen a couple of times..;()... I worry though if your family member is diabetic about all that fruit but you guys are on the right track ..be well!.. Have an amazing day..;()

  • @BurlyBadass You put greens in a smoothie because it is a way to sneak greens into your diet without people knowing. You cannot taste the spinach.

  • I love it because you can get your full recommended servings of fruits & veggies in one or two smoothies a day. You really can't tast the veggies when you put a bunch of fruit in it. I've started making one every time we get up or make a batch the night before like I did last night and put it in the pitcher for the next day. Really does perk you up for the day.

  • Actually we ordered it Sat. night and it was here on Tues. Very quick! I love QVC! David did have it on his show the next day though. Did the payment plan which doesn't take a big chunk out of your pocket at one time and it was a $100 less on QVC than on the Vitamix web site.

  • Wow! You bought one! I'm amazed when they showed it makes soup on QVC. Did you get this wayching "Dining with Dave"? That soup looked great. If I bought one I'd probably use it everyday cuz I love soup!
