There are THREE recorded versions of this choon - http://stevelawsonandlobelia.bandcamp.com/track/jimmy-james
http://music.stevelawson.net/track/jimmy-james AND
http://music.stevelawson.net/track/jimmy-james-2

A live version of my tune, Jimmy James, originally on Not Dancing For Chicken, Behind Every Word AND the Steve Lawson and Lobelia live album, Live In Nebraska.

This was recorded at a house concert, in East Finchley, London, in December 08, using my Modulus 6 string fretless bass, a Looperlative LP1 for all the looping, and a Lexicon MPX-G2 for all the processing.

(none of the parts are keyboards, and none of it is pre-recorded. :) )

  • Absolutely amazing! How do you create those beautiful pad sounds?....

  • thanks! Really glad you like it. All the sounds are from the Lexicon MPX-G2 - it's a processor not a MIDI unit, so they're all processed bass sounds... some of them are with an Ebow, and I think on this vid (haven't watched it for a while) there's some really high stuff that is one layer recorded, then doubled in speed so it plays back up one octave... :)

  • Wow! I didn't know about the Ebow before. What a fantastic thingy. Also, I did look you up on bandcamp. Great albums!

Looping can certainly sound very nice when it's played well. It's a genre I might look further into. I play the guitar. Hope I one day can produce such great soundscapes myself.

  • One word...Lovely!! Thanks Steve!!
