Actually it looks good for adult RSH, plumage is good.

I thought it was too, that's why I went to chack it out as soon as it flew up into the tree. It was a beetle indeed. A staple in the diet of this species. It's a redshouldered hawk, according to someone who knows more than I about them.
Thanks for watching.:)

That's right. And this guy sure did eat well! I was glad to provide it with safe harbor during the storm, and glad it got a good meal too.:)
Thanks for watching!

We used to get 'Sparrow Hawks' in our garden back in Sweden, they used the fact that we fed the birds in winter to come down and grab some on occasion.. but we could not stop feeding the smaller birds, or they would die in even greater numbers than the Hawk could ever catch! My mother never liked the Hawks though.. :)

Glad the worst of Gustav didn't hit you... :)

Me too! We took a direct hit from Ivan 4 years ago. It was a cat 3 when it made landfall & still a strong cat 2 when it came through here. We're lucky that it only took out a few trees. Hurricanes are a powerful force.

I had to take my feeders down. Having a mouse invasion. Atleast the hawk got one for us. Usually they don't go for the songbirds here. The mice must taste better.lol Also we'll be moving in a few weeks. The animals will have to move on too. More on that later!
Take care, thanks as always for watching my vids.
