If you recorded any Detroit Lions football games on betamax or vhs, and still have the tapes, please contact me. I am looking for games from 1980-1998. Thanks.

Here is the famous "karate kick" run from Billy Sims of the Detroit Lions. FYI, Houston was 0-10 going into that game.

I loved Billy but this is why he got hurt. He was all out. Every. Play. Barry saved his body. Right move if you want a long career.

Billy Sims was Barry Sanders before Barry Sanders in case you were wondering

How was Billy 'The only RB that could do it?" Any human with 2 legs could do that in the right circumstances

I wont get into a debate, but I will say Billy Simms was on the way to a HOF career before he got hurt. For a while it was hard to tell who was better: Billy Simms or Walter Payton.

It wasn't a kick. Like one other person point out, it was a stiff-leg. Billy just happened to be the only running back that could do it.

Yes way, my friend. Barry produced some huge numbers but in college Billy played in a wishbone offense that did not have a featured back. Billy was involved in a lot of blowouts where he didn't play as many downs in the second half of games. Billy had some injuries early in his college career too. When at full speed, Billy was as good if not better. Barry was a little more of a home run threat though.

Barry was more of a double juker. Billy was a little bigger and could juke but he was more of a glider and speed guy even though I saw him caught from behind a few times. He could explode through a hole quicker than anything his size and could break arm tackles.

Sanders was special but the problem I had with him was that he had a lot of negative plays where he was caught behind the line. To me he rolled the dice a lot for the big play. Billy was more of an every down back that learned to block a little also in college having played in the Wishbone offense. If I could take either one of them as a rookie, I would have to take Sims though I wouldn't complain with Sanders either.
