No one was allowed to openly practice their religion in the Soviet Union without suspicion, and the Jews who wanted to do so wanted to emigrate. The USSR knew it would look bad if the majority of their Jewish population up and left, which is why it was especially hard for them to leave (though it was hard for anyone to leave). Anyone who thinks Jews were in control is an idiot and needs to read a history book and look at the evidence.

Many of the original organizers of the Soviet Union were jewish because they were forced to live in small ghettos/villages in pre-soviet Russia. Of course these people were Jewish, the thing is, Russian were antisemitic and continued to be so despite Soviet propaganda, Jews were treated like second-hand citizens
