Short video to go with blog update showing TrackIR direct control of PNVS and chain gun. Control stutters a little it's due to well worn condition of TrackIR clip (it's held together with bits of tape).

You also get a glimpse of my programmer art test area.

  • Yeah man I would totally pay for this it seems to be shaping up really nicely. I was a huge fan of Jane's Combat sims myself back in the day. What do you think about the DCS series of games? Are you planning on having that level of realism or is it more of a 'gamer' sim?

  • @ImagenNoReligion There's only so much 2.5 people can do with next to no funding. We are very creative and know our subject very well. I don't see any reason at all why you can't have realism in gaming. Limited resources just means you need to draw a line somewhere, it's the same with DCS product. We're more about the tactical side of things than just knobs and buttons, in that respect nothing else comes close. We're more Janes/Microprose era.

  • Need some work on the terrain. Apache Air Assault's terrain looks really good.

Never knew that the Apache's nose had two moving parts that swiveled independent of each other! You taught me something!

  • @IWannabeJew Erm, the terrain is for *my benefit only*. I do say so in the video notes. It's a special zone where I test avionics and mechanical systems without having to wait for objects or terrain to load.

Visual style is a homage to older Janes titles that many flight sim enthusiasts grew up with, it attempts to capture the feel of the era.

  • @CastleDeacon Ah, my apologies then.

  • @IWannabeJew No apologies necessary. I agree it's terrible programmer 'art' and I spent all of 5 mins making it :) the quality reflects the effort.

I do agree that Apache Air Assault does look splendid. I only wish we had a fraction of the budget, we could have done so much more in terms of production value. Not that I'm bitter or anything *wink*

  • Hope for relase, i have Falcon BMS 4.32, DCS:BS and DCS:A10C. But i really need nice AH64D sim with clickable cockpit and realistic avionics. I think, i must buy that sim as fast as possible, but is one problem: I am from Poland.

  • @CastleDeacon looking good man. I meant to give you a thumbs up on the comment but accidently hit thumbs down :) But myself and many other simmers out there are have been waiting years for another good apache sim to come out. I really like the effort put into flight model and avionics. Keep it up :)

  • @CastleDeacon WTF Is 2.5 ppl LOL?

  • @CastleDeacon Well for 2.5 people you guys are doing a hell of a job. If you need any animation done, I'm a character animator and would be glad to help.

I'll be following the progress ;)

  • @CastleDeacon Hey, if you can get right the increasing sloppiness of the 30mm on long bursts, I'll be happy. It's scandalous.
