http://telavox.web.fc2.com/speaker_nostalgia.html Hasehiro came out with the new speakers at the 11th Hasehiro audition gathering in Nihonbashi, Tokyo in Nov 2009. The new speakers are Distressed Back Loaded Horn Speakers. The material is Merkus Pine. It is said that Merkus Pine has a nice acousmato, so it makes dried sound when tapped. Merkus Pine is lighter in weight compared to MDF. Weighing about 5.0 kg, if it makes MM-151S by Merkus Pine. Incidentally, MM-151S made by MDF weighs about 8.5 kg. So, the shipping charge is cheaper than MDF made loudspeakers. You can get Hasehiro back loaded horn speakers at cheaper prices if you choose Merkus Pine made loudspeakers. The sound field spreads modestly with tenderness, and the sound fits comfortably in ear. The lightness did it. That's exactly the Nostalgic Back Loaded Horn Speakers. Please preview the sample music on a headset if possible.
I like the construction and the sound (as far as I can tell via youtube). I'm listening through a set of full range 8" drivers over Class A circuitry and a really nice DAC. I can hear the atmosphere and can appreciate it. It sounds nice!
