The Montford Point Marines were the first African-Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. The black Marines were segregated at Montford Point Camp to train between 1942-1949.

  • My Grandfateher was a Montford Pointer in the 1940's. I followed his footsteps after noticing an Eagle Globe and Anchor tattoo on his forearm and spent 21 wonderful years as a Marine. Oh forgot to mention my grandfathers name. James Smith (Norfolk Virginia Deceased)

  • My Grandfather(Herman Henderson) was a Montford Pointer as well. Before he passed he use to always say "I fought for this country only to come back to still be a Nigger"

  • My grandfather and my great uncle were both montford marines, nice video

  • My uncle Thomas Ravenell and his neighbor Ellis Cunningham were Montford Point Marines (Charleston SC). Both are deceased, both were in WWII,Korean War and Vietnam. My uncle retired during the Vietnam war and participated in the Cuban Missle Crisis. Mr Cunningham is a charter member of the Montford Point Marine Association. CPL Hawk 1/6 2nd Marine Division PG County Police (ret) Maryland. Semper-FI. I also know some members of Chapter 6 in Washington DC. Especially Sam Saxton and Gene Doughtery
