  • Why does someone come to this video and down rate it?

  • @prodigyat9 i have a devoted groupie or two... i mean hater... same thing

  • Even the 'modern' resisters you showed are large in comparison to the resistors seen in computers and such today. Darn near impossible to work on today's electronics....the resistor is smaller than solder joint. Can't get over how quickly technology has progressed

  • @deadman12078 SMD packages. yeah. Do a youtube search for "toaster reflow", pretty cool what you can do without pricey equipment.

  • @onlywhenprovoked I got to get me a toaster oven!

When I was taking electronics repair in collage 98-99 it was so much simpler. Honestly I have not used much that schooling since and I feel I wasted 7k. I did learn to read wiring diagrams which has been a big help in rapairing cars.

If I had seen that vid I would have had a much easier time in repairing my laptop. Bought a Dell 9300 off Ebay for $100... After about 6 hours of cursing she worked but ugh.

Learn something new every day. Thank you!

  • @deadman12078 Glad you enjoyed that. There's an endless supply of how-tos and informational videos and blogs out there. I spend a lot of time on that kind of stuff. I swear these days you could just bullshit your way through every job, and just keep a laptop on you to look up how to fix it, on the fly.

I'm going to post some projects and repairs soon, see if I can contribute some to the pool.

  • Rolls Royce used resistor rheostats for their heating and coiling system controls like this straight up until 1990; they never break, just get dirty if the car has been in a high moisture environment

  • @onlywhenprovoked That is so true. Any time I have a problem I check youtube and google to get a better understanding. The Internet contains so much knowledge and there are so many people out there willing to help answer questions. If it peaks your interest and your willing to do the work you can do anything. Than again it depends on the person. We all have strengths and weaknesses.

Look forward to your contribution to the knowledge of humanity (no sarcasm).

  • @onlywhenprovoked I only say that collage was a waste cus all we did for two years was take notes. Honestly that was all french to me. We never actually built circuits or repaired electronics. I did repair/rebuild a few computers for the teacher but I need to learn hands on. I have repaired stoves, dishwashers, furnaces but I was doing that when I was 10. No luck getting a job at a TV/appliance repair shop cus by the time I got my diploma they had all closed down so I repair for family/friends

  • I was soldering shit together before I could talk. Love these vids.

  • cool, dude we might have to transgress after the war, at least some of us will still be able to understand theory.

  • @onlywhenprovoked I got $5.00 that says all the resistor options will be within %10 tolerance of rating.
