Shot in and (a couple of seconds) around Charlottesville, Virginia, October 26-29 2008, using an Elmo Super 106 super-8 camera (circa 1972) with Kodak Ektachrome 64T film.

The University of Virgina (UVA) grounds can bee seen in several shots. Then there's that apple pickin'.

A very special THANK YOU to our wonderful friends (and hosts!) Suzanne & David!

  • I used Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas, who also processed the film. They're awesome -- very nice people, and they do a great job as far as I'm concerned. I'm not aware of any other outfit that processes E 64T in North America, although I'm sure there must be others. I try and telecine myself nowadays as a cost-cutting measure, but I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to use Dwayne's again if I were working on something that was more than just a home movie; a project or whatever.

  • @iggy88 Let me add that the compressed version you're looking at does no justice whatsoever to both the actual processed film or the video transfer (I had them put it on MiniDV). They are absolutely beautifully done.

  • Love the music on this! So nice and comical!

  • Thanks, Menair -- Me too! I've had the song floating around in me head and on my hard drive for a while now. I really felt the tune might pair well with this piece of film; it's practically the same length, to boot!

  • Hm. The compression isn't very good; it doesn't do the original footage quality justice! I may take another crack at it at some point.

  • Whats the song?

  • How did you telecine it?

  • The music is classic Woody Allen-ish jazz. The apple picking reminds me of the Zapruder film....I was waiting for the shooter in the grassy knoll.

    Bravo Jimmie!
