Now summer is over here, raining all day :( For this guitar arrangement, I tuned 6th string to D so that I can cover the entire root notes in lower range while playing ad-lib solo on higher 5 strings only. I also incorporated Coltrane's original solo for few choruses in the middle just for fun. The first 5 chords use descending bass notes B-A-G-F-Eb while chords are B-D7-G-Bb7-Eb. The entire chord progression is here: http://www.songtrellis.com/picture$755

  • Excellent work! I'm only beginning to figure out how to approach giant steps with guitar and I have to say that if I ever reach your level I'll be a happy person :)

  • Id advise you to approach fast tune as a ballad first, to have thorough understanding about how chord moves. Once you understand that, practice in faster tempo by eliminating certain notes playable in slow tempo, then youve got a picture what to be done in faster tempo. What Coltrane had achieved in his solos was that combination of arpeggios of given chord over sudden jump as I->bIII7(B->D7

or G->Bb7) while applying chromatically descending notes over V->I progressions using IIm7->V7->I.

  • THIS IS GOOD.

  • Wow.... cheers man, this is really, really good

  • Buen trabajo. La guitarra acústica suena jazzera y el rítmo esta ok. Tocar y solear "a capella" en la "de palo" Giant steps no la hace cualquiera.

  • Good impro. I heard an entire passage from the original solo in there, 5 stars
