BANGKOK: Thousands of Red Shirt pro-government supporters held a peaceful demonstration here, demanding the reinstatement of the 1997 Constitution.
The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship leader Suporn Attawong led the demonstration at the Democracy Monument here, in conjunction with Constitution Day today.
"We also wanted the release of all political prisoners, apart from the reinstatement of the 1997 Constitution," he said.
The group had rejected the Constitutions drawn up by the coup makers after Thaksin Shinawatra was ousted as prime minister in a bloodless coup in Sept 19, 2006.
