The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) uses radar guns to discipline bus operators. This comes despite evidence that many bus speedometers do not work and many more are not properly calibrated.

  • these metro bus drivers are nuts !

  • Haha exactly.

  • If you were driving a police car that was maintained by the police who were operating the police radar while you were attempting to adhere to a schedule devised by the police, you just might get out of that speeding ticket--but that's not how it works at DC's Metro.

  • Maybe I should tell the cop that my speedometer wasn't properly calibrated either to get out of my speeding ticket.

But while we're at it, could we get bus operators to refrain from cell phone use while operating a 40' vehicle? Maybe a drive cam? There's simply not enough supervisors to monitor any unprofessional or unsafe conduct.
