One self confident cat is confronted by 2 raccoons. She stands them off, although they are larger than she is. However, they are on her territory and don't want to cause too much trouble.

It is interesting that the second raccoon bows its head to the cat as if to ask permission to continue. This same gesture is also often seen in whitetail deer.

The raccoon didn't stop at this, though, It continued over to the bird feeder and helped itself (next video)

The raccoon (Procyon lotor) is also sometimes called the coon. It is a widespread omnivorous North American mammal. Raccoons live together in small loose groups. They are forest animals, but can also live in urban areas.

They can be huge- the largest found weighted 61 lbs. They typically are large and can weight over 35 lbs. and be a yard long. They have a black "bandit's mask" around the eyes and their coat is a mixture of brown, grey, and black. They can be albino.

They are highly intelligent, have manipulative hands, and wash their food (as shown here).

  • You really risked having your cat getting bit? Why not just scare them away and avoid rabies.

  • They had been around and remained healthy. The raccoons and the cat knew each other. They weren't likely to have a big fight.

  • Its Sad How They Can Get There Animal hurt By not stopping things like this

  • The raccoons came by ever so often. I think they were young siblings. The cat and raccoons were familiar with each other and very curious. Don't think they planned any fighting.

  • Ya it just seems that 90% of people on youtube are retarded and don't know anything about rabies or anything else for that matter.

  • Most animals are smart enough only to fight when they have to. They also understand territory, and only violate it when they're really hungry. Both cats and raccoons are well-equipped to cause injury if they want to, but usually, they don't want to.

  • In my opinion, racoon are friendly. They always try to avoid from cats but maybe cuz they're stealer so that's why cats don't like them as a friend. Maybe.

  • raccoon: what?!!!!

    cat: ima fuck you up!!!

  • My pit bull Bella, saved my kitty. She loves cats, sleeps with them shit like that. One time two HUGEraccons cornered my cat, and Bella grabbed one by the neck and shook it to death, the other one she flung across the yard so hard it broke the fence. She's the best, and so sweet to everything, unless it try to hurt our cats ;)

  • My cat chased a really big male raccoon up a tree. I was scared because I'd heard of racoons being chased by 'coon dogs turning and really messing up a dog, but it was just a stand-off. I guess they can gauge the degree of threat.

  • RACCOONS DON'T CARRY RABIES!!! They are sometimes affected by rabies and can spread them when affected just like any other animal. If a raccoon is out in the daytime it doesn't mean it has rabies. Less than 1/2 of a percent of raccoons have rabies. When an animal gets rabies they are very ill and aren't actively looking for someone to bite. Most will lay down and die. The foaming out of the mouth Cujo is a myth.

  • @john17972 exactly!

  • The territory theory is bullshit! A raccoon is simply a more passive animal that will always back down from an adult cat. I have seen cats scratch and chase racoons and I never once saw a racoon chase or attack a cat. The racoon will run away at first scratch or hiss. I've seen scrawny alley cats chasing raccons twice their size.

  • @glycar why not shoot your mom?

  • I had a cat that was attacked by a coon right in front of our garage door. She was at the vet for a month, lost her front leg, had her facial bones shattered, and there is something called coon fever. She survived and lived for ten happy years, but I am no longer a fan of coons.

  • why not shoot raccoon
