Dirty, cockroach infested and tiny apartments are common in Dubai unless we're paying dh300.000 or more (but that's $46,500 of our own money!!!) or living really far away or in less desirable areas (just like any city!!)
You only get 1/2 of a refrigerator in most of these lower-end places, plus tiny closets and tiny rooms.
No wonder we can't find a suitable place to live with the small budget they've given us!!
We're relieved the other place we tried to lease didn't go through because we were settling and neither of us felt right about it. A hotel suite is bigger than a lot of the places we saw.
If this is 260,000, you can imagine the crap you get for less. Our budget is only 215,000 max :-( Everyone wants to go online and say "look here's one for only 190,000 and it looks nice..." because they think house-hunting online is the same as in the US. In the US you can pretty much trust what you see online, but here it's mostly untrustworthy. We were warned not to house-hunt online because they have a problem with fake landlords and bait & switch is common practice.
don't worry...something will work out. Maybe I'll just say in the US!
unless you get into the higher end apartments this is what you can expect
