Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Director: Michael Bay
Stars: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tyrese Gibson (Full Cast)
Studio: Paramount Pictures
The Plot: Against the backdrop of the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, the alliance between Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) and Optimus Prime is put to the test against a common enemy: Shockwave.
THE BUZZ: Remember when Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich each had some sort of identity crisis and pledged to make smaller movies outside of the action genre? Emmerich managed to break free, at least for one project, and we'll see his political thriller Anonymous later this year, but Bay couldn't say no to a third Transformers movie and the feeling of worldwide domination it guarantees. The funny thing for us here: This is the first time we're anticipating a Transformers storyline, if only to discover what happens to Mikaela Banes. And let's see if Bay makes good on his promise to delve deeper into the toy line's mythos, while exploring darker emotional realms of his human characters as well.
