  • good points about past sociological realities, i would concur ... i'd like to see more work opps for teens ... few employers here in AZ will hire under 16 and many won't hire til 18... i would NOT concur that children are biologically adults ... they still grow a considerable amount between 13 and 18, pregnancy & childbirth is extremely risky... i watched a documentary a few years back about how the brain does not fully develop until around 18

  • @MsPollywogg You are correct that the brain continues to develop. You mentioned up until 18 years of age, but the prefrontal cortex (inhibitions, impulse control, executive function, etc) develops up to 25 years and in some cases matures by age 30 for those with ADHD. As far as my comment about "Biological Adults" when puberty hits: Before the industrial revolution I know that people were married around 13-15 years of age and many were able to take care of themselves.

  • Very true

  • thanks!
